pencil sketches male celebrities

This is how I started out with my artwork....
pencil sketches of famous people....these are
from the '70's....just plain HB pencils.....

Pastel portrait of my cousin Dianne

A pastel Portrait of my cousin Dianne from a photo taken in 1977. The photo had discolored as so many of them did in that era, so I've painted to the tones that they should have been. Isn't she gorgeous! Dianne was a contestant in the Miss Canada Pageant in the mid '70s.

More of my cloth dolls!

These are a couple of dolls I made a few years ago....
One lives with my friend Sam and the other lives with my aunt in Ontario.
Their clothes are one of a kind designed especially for them individually.....check out those boots on the girl in the jumpsuit!

Cheeky Cosmetics on Etsy!

Just want to give a big plug for a fellow Etsian from my hometown! Chantel makes and sells her own mineral make-up! How cool is that?! I've been using Mineral make-up for several years (buying on-line from the States), so I can't wait to run out of what I have so I can try hers! Check out her etsy shop: http://cheekycosmetics.etsy.com

Meet Gizelle

Gizelle lives in Maple Ridge with Simone who was a very good friend to my father-in-law. Simone liked dad's "Daisy Duke" so much that she asked if she could buy one of my dolls for herself. She picked this one. Coincidental that she has a french sounding name, maybe....?? Simone will be 97 years old this month and still lives alone in a great big house! Sure glad she has Gizelle for company!

Thanks for looking!

A big thanks to my doll buddy Christine!

A big thanks to my doll buddy Christine ('met' her on-line at etsy.com) for helping me out with this blogging thing, as well as many other helpful hints! Check her blog: http://dollyknickersbycwdesigns225.blogspot.com/ She's got some awesome doll fashions there!

Critique from my hubby

My hubby took a look at my blog and gave me a little flack for using an overflashed photo of Miranda! He's right! I've added a 'fixed' version (shadow & lighting fix in photoshop) as well as a different photo I took of Miranda where she lives with my sister. Hopefully detailing on her face shows up better here! That orangey/peachy dress in the background is a dress I designed and sewed for a doll belonging to my sister. That was back in the '80's I think. The doll is holding a Christmas tree ornament that I also made.

Daisy Duke

Meet "Daisy Duke"! I made this doll for my widowed father-in-law for his 90th birthday. He got a kick out of Daisy and her lovely legs on Dukes of Hazzard, so I made him his own Daisy Duke! He thought she was PERFECT! He couldn't quite figure out how I got those toes and fingers to look so real. I keep this doll in my project room as a reminder of how much he enjoyed her. He passed away at age 94 in 2007.

(The red ribbon is first place for me at our local fair....I entered her prior to giving her to dad)

A trio of lovely ladies

Well, you've already met Miranda and Barbara.....Here's Trixie.....She lives with my other sister. I designed her lovely lingerie. Isn't she cute?!

Another doll

This doll I made for my sister. This lovely gal's name is Miranda. I designed her elegant gown and made her a lovely pair of shoes as well. She's decked out in lovely pearl earrings that I made as well.

I'm going to plunge into the blogging thing!

This blogging idea is a bit of leap for me, so I'm just going to start with showing a few of my projects that I've done over the years. I've had a lot of fun with all my creations and can't wait to have more to add to this collection. Please come back often to see what else I have to show you.
This is a cloth doll that I made a few years ago for my mom. I used a pattern from a book I bought from my favorite book-club. I designed the dress myself. I named this beauty "Barbara". Her hair is a wig I made from one of those scrunchy ponytail things. I've had a hair fetish since I was about 9 years old and have collected all kinds of hair pieces over the years. Barbara's face is handpainted with acrylic paint.
I loved making these dolls. I sold some but most I gave to family and friends so I can visit them sometimes!
